Main activities
Development of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) to various influenza virus (human and animal) proteins and to those from other acute respiratory pathogens
Development of mAbs using genetically engineered constructs
Characterization of new mAbs by various immunological reactions
Epitope mapping of influenza hemagglutinin using virus-neutralizing mAbs
Development of diagnostic lab tests based on mAbs
Achievements
Generation of mAbs specific to hemagglutinin sites of seasonal influenza A viruses (H1N1) pdm09 and A(H3N2), as well as to the NS1 protein and conserved nucleoprotein (NP) epitopes
Hybridomas have been developed which produce mAbs against potentially pandemic influenza A viruses (H2N2, H5, H7, and H9)
Panels of mAbs to influenza B hemagglutinin were obtained in the Victoria and Yamagata lines, including those against conserved influenza B nucleoprotein (NP) epitopes
Generation of hybridomas which produce new mAbs to parainfluenza viruses (types 2 and 3), respiratory syncytial virus, and adenoviruses
Development of mAbs against Ebola virus eGp protein
Work identifying immunodominant sites in the hemagglutinin molecule of influenza A (H1N1) pdm09, A (H7N3), and influenza B viruses (Victoria and Yamagata evolutionary lines) using mAbs
Creation of a collection of hybridomas producing mAbs against influenza and other acute respiratory pathogen antigens; the collection includes more than 100 hybridomas.
The laboratory participates in projects, including “Study of the antigenic structure of the influenza B virus hemagglutinin molecule at the epitope level” (Russian Ministry of Health state project) and the international project “Maintaining the capacity for influenza surveillance in Russia” (in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
The laboratory holds a patent (2491338 27.08.2013) related to "The use of mAbs to identify Yamagata or Victoria evolutionary lines of the influenza B virus (hybridoma 4H7, a producer of mAbs for the detection of influenza B viruses in the Yamagata lineage; hybridoma B/4H1, a producer of mAbs for the determination of influenza viruses in the Victoria 26 lineage)".
