Meeting of Influenza Vaccine and Diagnostic Strains Committee, June 2, 2011

June 2, 2011 — Meeting of Influenza Vaccine and Diagnostic Strains Committee took place at the RII. The members of the Committee discussed the results of the generation and preclinical studies of live influenza vaccine candidate A/17/mallard/Netherlands/00/95 (H7N3), issues of developing new influenza vaccines against possible influenza pandemics, and the draft regulations for preparation of new vaccine and diagnostic influenza strains. It was decided:

1. To approve results of preclinical studies of live influenza vaccine candidate A/17/mallard/Netherlands/00/95 (H7N3) and recommend for further investigations to develop National Collection of Strains for Pandemic Influenza Vaccines
   
   
2. Taking into account WHO recommendations, to provide documentation in support for the development of new influenza vaccines against possible influenza pandemics(H7, H2, H5, H9) in order to be included into the updated National Targeted Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Program
   
   
3. To give attention to the draft regulations for preparation of new vaccine and diagnostic influenza strains for adding relevant suggestions
